Serengeti safari
The Serengeti is a place where time moves with the land itself — in the patient rhythm of migrating herds, the stillness of lions in the shade, and the wide, endless horizons untouched by fences or artificial influence. Its power lies not only in what you see, but in what remains preserved: vast plains ruled by rainfall, instinct, and age-old movement. To experience the Serengeti is to slow down, sit with the landscape, and witness a raw, unedited truth that has shaped life for thousands of years.

FAMOUS FOR
The Great Wildebeest Migration & high predator densities
Game Drives
The classic way to experience the Serengeti is on a game drive. Safari vehicles are designed for comfort and open viewing, allowing you to immerse yourself in the wilderness. Morning drives often bring encounters with predators still active after a night of hunting, while afternoon drives reveal elephants, giraffes, and plains game grazing in the golden light. For a deeper experience, a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch in the bush lets you explore farther corners of the park. Every drive feels unique — no two safaris are ever the same.
Hot Air Balloon Safaris
Few experiences compare to a dawn hot air balloon flight over the Serengeti. As the sun rises, you gently lift into the sky, floating silently above the endless plains. From your vantage point, watch herds of wildebeest and zebras moving below, giraffes stretching toward the treetops, and elephants making their way to watering holes. The landscape glows with golden light, offering extraordinary photographic opportunities. The experience concludes with a champagne bush breakfast set in the wilderness — an unforgettable highlight of any Serengeti safari.
Walking Safaris
For those who want to connect more intimately with nature, walking safaris offer a slower, more immersive experience. Accompanied by expert guides and armed rangers, you’ll explore areas of the park on foot, learning to recognize animal tracks, identify plants, and understand the delicate balance of the ecosystem. Unlike game drives, where wildlife often takes center stage, walking safaris highlight the small wonders: colorful insects, medicinal shrubs, and bird calls that often go unnoticed. It’s an adventure that awakens all your senses.
Cultural Visits
The Serengeti is not just about wildlife — it is also home to the Maasai people, who have lived in harmony with nature for centuries. Visiting a traditional Maasai manyatta (village) allows you to experience their unique culture, from their colorful beadwork and dances to their age-old traditions of cattle herding. You’ll hear stories of their history, learn about their lifestyle, and gain an appreciation for how they coexist with the wild environment. These encounters offer a deeper cultural layer to your safari adventure.
Birdwatching
With more than 500 recorded bird species, the Serengeti is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. From the spectacular lilac-breasted roller and secretary bird to large raptors like martial eagles and vultures circling high above, the variety is astonishing. Seasonal migrations bring flocks of storks, flamingos, and other migratory birds, transforming wetlands and skies into a moving spectacle. Whether you’re a keen birder or a casual observer, the vibrant colors and diverse calls of Serengeti’s birdlife add an extra dimension to the safari experience.
Photography Safaris
For photography lovers, the Serengeti is nothing short of a dream. Whether you’re capturing the dramatic Mara River crossings, the intimate gaze of a lioness with her cubs, or a glowing sunset behind acacia trees, every moment is a picture waiting to be framed. Specialist photography safaris can be arranged with guides who understand light, angles, and positioning, helping you make the most of your shots. From professionals to passionate amateurs, the Serengeti offers endless opportunities to build a breathtaking portfolio of wildlife and landscape images.
Serengeti weather
The Serengeti experiences a generally cool and dry season from May to August, with a warmer dry season following in September and October. Between November and April temperatures peak, and most rain falls within this time, spurring the herds to move.

Marion PVerified PERFECT Many thanks to Athumani! We trusted him to organize our honeymoon, and we are not disappointed, everything was PERFECT! All the staff, whether the drivers, guides, Athumani the boss, were very welcoming and caring for us! The hotels chosen were all very well, and the activities too! We spent 12 beautiful days, and especially 5 incredible safari days that we will keep in mind for a long time! You can go for it with Kilimanjaro Unforggetable, you won't be disappointed! Ann Marie FabulousVerified Unforgettable indeed! The best experience ever! I began planning my trip to Tanzania in February 2025 for arrival over the Christmas holidays at the end of the year. After much research, Kilimanjaro Unforgettable checked all my boxes--mainly, they are a Tanzanian owned company. This was extremely important to me. In my research, I found out that a majority of safari companies are not locally owned, therefore, the money does not stay in Tanzania. The profits go to locations in The Netherlands, UK, and even in USA. It was important that the money stay in the country to support the committee. As a former business owner, this was of the utmost importance. Also, I liked the fact that they donate a portion of their profits to schools and organizations for girls in Tanzania. The more I looked into things, the more I found out that girls don't have much to help them get a head there, so knowing a percentage of profits goes to this cause was also a factor in my decision to go with KU.From the moment I was in touch to inquire about my options until I was met at the airport 9 months later, Frank and his team were there to answer the dozens and dozens of questions I had plus offer recommendations and suggestions that may make my time more enjoyable on safari. Everyone went above and beyond in the planning phase! When December 22 finally came, I met Frank and our guide, Joseph, at Arusha airport. I was very excited to find out we had Joseph as a guide since I read my reviews that included great things to say about him! My niece and I loved Joseph from the word go. You can tell he is a gentleman and a gentle man just by talking to him for a few minutes. On safari we spent 2 nights in Tarangire National Park at Elephant Spring lodge. I highly recommend Elephant Springs. They are a Karibu property (do a search and see all great reviews). Everyone there was warm and welcoming. Every meal was excellent. Our accommodations were unbelievable. All the comforts of home. I knew from research it was going to be great, but I didn't think it was going to be over-the-top amazing, and it was! My only regret is not spending more time there--seriously! I fell in love with the place as well as the staff such as Jackson, Amari, and Christina just to name a few.TNP exceeded my expectations as well. We saw so much wildlife there it was overwhelming and incredible at the same time. We took a night game drive on our first night and that was just as incredible as the day drives. Our third day was spent in Ngorongoro Crater. We stayed 1 night at Lion's Paw lodge which is another Karibu property. Again, my only regret is I should have stayed 2 nights here. It was that amazing. We even had an elephant outside our balcony eating late into the night. Maasai greeted us upon our arrival with a beautiful song and dance. We got to camp that day about 4pm after spending the entire day in the crater which of itself was spectacular. We spent a considerable amount of time at the Hippo pool there probably because there was a delicious coffee vendor a few yards away. I loved the coffee so much, I bought a few bags to bring home. We saw a rhino in the distance, but it was too far for me, but everyone else saw him. One the way to camp, we were stopped by a random elephant just making his way through the bush to get to the other side where his herd was. He let us take some close-up pictures before scaring us away so he can cross the road. On Christmas morning, we went to breakfast to meet Joseph only to find out that he had hurt himself the night before and had to go into town for care. KU had arranged another guide to come and take us into Serengeti NP and spend the remaining days with us. We were very concerned for Joseph, but he called me to explain what happened and to reassure me that he would indeed be ok once the doctor fixed him up. Since this was going to take all day, he didn't want us to miss anything, so the company sent another guide, Savio. Come to find out, Savio left his house at 12am to drive to meet us at 8am! Ugh, I felt so bad because it was Christmas Day! The company handled everything flawlessly. I just felt bad for both Joseph for being injured and Savio for leaving his family on his time off to come "save us". Ironic that his name is Savio (although in Italian it means "WISE"). He is the only Tanzanian with the name Savio, btw. His uncle was a priest in Italy for 4 years and when he was about to be born, he asked if they would name the baby Savio b/c he liked that name from Italy--and his parents did--I don't remember if the uncle was his dad or mom's brother--cool story nonetheless! We got the Serengeti NP in the afternoon of Christmas Day. A cheetah greeted us somewhere between the entrance sign and the picnic area. Actually, 2 cheetahs--brothers. After that were hyenas, lions, elephants, it was incredible and this was the first day! We stayed at Nyota Luxury Camp (not Karibu). I chose all the lodged myself. Although I loved Nyota and everyone I met there, I was not in love with the place as I was the first two properties. There is nothing wrong with the camp. It is just that we were in cabins with no glass windows like the others. The others were bungalows/cabins. This was more like a tent on a concrete foundation. It wasn't 100% tent though, it was brick & mortar except for the windows, there weren't any. It was only a canvas screen, and I guess that freaked me out. I didn't read this in any review, and it looked like all the other camps, but this is just my preference now that I know what I know. You are one with nature though. We had buffalo eating in our front yard all day and night and lion's mating in our backyard all night--look up how often a lion mates in a day--yeah, it was 5 hours of this a stone's throw out our cabin. It was incredible to experience but frightening at the same time since they were right outside!!Everyone at Nyota was amazing and attentive. The food was phenomenal. The Maasai escorts were so nice to share their stories with us. I loved the pool and the happy hour. Would I stay here again? I don't know. I might want to stay in the Karibu family again. Maybe I prefer being really high up so I can't get eaten if a wild animal jumps on the porch and breaks through the canvas screen. LMAO.The Serengeti lived up to the hype and then some! I loved every single moment I was there even in the time you didn't see any animals for an hour or so. It was just too beautiful for words. We did end up flying out of SNP which Frank arranged for us to leave SNP and land in Arusha then fly to Zanzibar. He arranged all that, so I did not have to do any of that planning. I did plan my own Zanzibar portion of the trip with the exception that Frank included airport pickup/hotel drop off which I very much appreciated since it was a long day of flights as it was. Overall, I would highly recommended KU for your safari experience. I was telling everyone I want to return in 2027, but know that I am writing this review, I think I will have to figure out a way to make it work for 2026! EmilyVerified Conquering Africa's Roof with the Best FINALLY DID IT TO THE TOP OF AFRICA with Kilimanjaro Unforgettable, and we're feeling like total heroes! Emma and Alex, our guides, were absolute pros - they kept us hydrated, fed, and motivated (read: bribed with snacks). We can't recommend them enough! The scenery? Mind-blowing. From the lush green forests to the barren, rocky landscape, every step was a new and amazing experience. And don't even get us started on the sunrises - wow! The altitude? Not so much (hello, headache!). But the team made sure we made it to the top, and it was all worth The team's enthusiasm and humor were infectious - they made the tough moments bearable, and the good moments even better. We laughed, we cried, we screamed (mainly from exhaustion), and we made it to the top!If you're up for an adventure, Kilimanjaro Unforgettable is the way to go.
